lights

well, seeing how the head is £40, id say it is cheap, colour casts that vary, inconsistant power output and slow recharge times. couldnt see what fitments it takes, so they could be limited.

basically you get what you pay for, but i would rather go for a named brand here in the uk where i get a warranty i can use if needbe. might cost me a couple of quid more, but its worth it.

i know gary edwards reccomends the lencarta kit, which he says is very good, and i believe him in truth. and there kits arent too badly priced either

Too good to be true............normally means just that.

The fitment to look out for is a bayonet fitting that will take Bowens accessories. That way you have a choice of top quality light modifiers and the cheaper Interfit ones fit that too. I'm not sure what fitting Elinchrom use?

The names to look out for.
Bowens, top quality, top wedge too.
interfit, all the Bowens gear but cheaper.
Elinchrom, also pro spec gear and fairly comparable with Bowens.
Lencarta, fairly new in the UK but well regarded.
Portaflash, Hmmm Jessops do sell it but most people seem to end up upgrading it!

Have a look at Garry Edwards Lighting guides, there is a good section there about choosing the right lights.

elinchrom have there own fitment. careful of interfit as some have bowens, some have elinchrom and some have there own fitment from what i heard.
