Hi

I've been using Lightroom recently rather than Canon's DPP, and whilst I'm happy with its versatility, smooth surfaces such as blue skies seem to have a speckled effect, a bit like grain on iso 800 film.

I'm sure its not noise (happens even at iso 200), and seems to be there even when looking at the unprocessed RAW in lightroom but not in DPP.

Its more like oversharpening, so I guess that it might be something to do with the masking or detail sliders?

Has anyone got any suggestions of settings to try, or has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks.

Tim

Like all these things it's difficult to say without seeing the image, however it may be over sharpening. Try dropping all the sharpening slider back to the default settings and see if the disappear. Also whilst yo can do a lot with a RAW image there are limits. Have you mad any major adjustments in the processing of these images?

Cheers. I've had a more careful play with things and I think it is actually the detail slider. Seems as if the bigger you are viewing the image the less you want dialled in on the detail slider.
