Lightroom screwing up colours on import

Hi all - I was taking a few pics yesterday, shot in RAW and imported into Lightroom (ver 4.4 I think) on my Win 7 PC, as I skip through the newly imported images in the Library view, the image appears nicely balanced and well saturated for a second or two, and then it looks as if Lightroom applies a profile to the image. The colours go completely off and I can't recover it back to original image. Yesterday for example, I took some shots of a light brown "sunburst" effect guitar, looked great on the back of the camera (D7100) but when imported the brown turned to a distinct yellow, and all the subtlety in the colour was gone.

I've had some issues with colour profiles on my screen, as all whites were being displayed as cream, which I eventually managed to resolve through windows settings, but not sure how to get this one sorted. I may be able to find a replacement screen to test from work today, but any other suggestions gratefully received! Thanks

Check if an import preset is bring applied.

Lovely thanks Nick, that makes sense as I've been shooting JPEG for a while on my new Nikon, only switched back to my normal RAW this weekend but somehow didn't put 2 + 2 together!
I'll have to put some time into making a preset which brings the pics back to life a bit, in most cases I might just stick to JPEG though as the D7100 does a nice job on them. Thanks for the replies.

Check under Camera Calibration -> Profile right at the bottom of the develop menu; There will normally be a profile there to match the pre-defined JPG styles in Camera. They are specific to your model of camera if they exist and do a great job rendering the RAW image in the same way as the in camera engine does.

eg. For 5D3 and Fuji X100T respectively...

+1... these are the settings being applied to the raw file that you are seeing.
If you want the raw processor to apply the same "jpeg settings" the camera uses for the review image, try using a Nikon product (like Capture NX-D) that can read/apply that information. Otherwise you will have to find a profile and develop presets that gets you close.

Awesome thanks all, especially David those screenshots were really helpful - found a profile called 'Vivid' which looks a lot more like the JPEG output and looks much better straight away ('landscape' looks good too).
