A quick search showed that this topic may not have been discussed before, so here goes...

I was wondering if there was a simply method for encrypting your RAW files and still have LR and PS use them as normal? Reason being, is that I've never been comfortable knowing that my RAW files could be accessed if the HDD gets stolen. I'm always backed up off-site, so recovery isn't the issue.

I dont encrypt for anything else, so I have very little experience here but was wandering if I could encrypt the folder where all my RAW's are kept and 'unlock' it each time I want to do an editing session and 're-lock' when I'm done. Not sure if encryption works like that?

If you are concerned about that, I would encrypt the whole drive. I do that on all my computers.

I agree with the above. Encrypt at disc level and you will never now the difference as usually you decrypt when you log on. Cary if someone nick's your hard drive they would need to ,now your log on details.

Windows 7 used to have bit locker which is a disk based encryption based on a log on ID/code with a USB recovery key but not sure if that is single user or enterprise?

I think it was in Enterprise and Ultimate editions of Windows 7.
It's in the Pro version of Windows 10.

Windows 8.x, I have no idea.

But yes, disk level encryption is the way to go.
