Been playing with Lightroom 3 on mac book pro, thinking of getting capture nx2 but heard some rumours of comparability problems with nx2 on mac, anybody had any issues with it or preferences between the two?

I started off with NX2, moved to LR3 and am now back with NX2 again.

I like the way you can select a camera profile and all the setting are retained in NX2. I started off with the standard profile but now prefer the portrait one.

Another plus is that all the settings are stored within the NEF file rather than being written to a separate catalogue file.

Not used it with a mac, but i'd be surprised if Nikon did not fully support OSX as it's the platform of choice for so many photographers.

Cheers for the reply, have been reading a few websites about functionality on mac so a bit wary, would like to try it as its Nikon's own, will see if anyone replies ref mac problems.

You can download the Capture NX2 trial and see how it works on the mac. It's also well worth using it together with View NX2 as this acts as a great NEF browser and is handy for previewing & rating images.

Good point, think I will download the trial and give it a go, nothing to loose. Thanks for that

I'm a Canon man, so not used the Nikon software, but you can do both of these in Lightroom (the second only if you use DNG files though).

Cheers guys running lion and heard there were issues with it, will give the trial a go.

I ran a demo of NX2 about 2 years ago and quite frankly NX2 is the only program to use if you require the absolute best processing from your RAW files. However the program itself is so damned clunky that I soon dismissed any ideas of buying it and went back to Aperture. Later I thought I'd give it a go again, but then found out that it wouldn't run reliably on Mac OS 10.6, and this was about 9 months after it's release. I've never looked at it again because if Nikon couldn't be bothered to address the problems in a timely manner then I can't trust that software.

Cheers that's exactly the info I was looking for, heard lots of rumours about similar findings to yours. Think I'll stick to LR3...
