Hey,
So I’m currently using Adobe Lightroom and have been for some time now,
I think It’s around £10 per month for the suite,
Just wondering if I would benefit any better from using the DxO PhotoLab,
I know it’s maybe personal preference but is there really any difference between the two from anyone here who’s used both,
It’s around £160 for the top end software package DxO,
Any thoughts or am I best to stick with Lightroom ?
Thanks

I've never liked Lightroom so I am biased, though my main processor is Photoshop CS6.
I've used DxO Optics Pro for a while (freebie) and like it a lot, I open most of my files into it and adjust before moving into CS6.
DxO Photolab is similar but has improvements with the addition of the Nik Software 'Control Point Technology', which is quite versatile but I have yet to establish whether I could work with it alone. I'm sure you realise that there is a 30-day trial option (in fact you can trial it after the 30 days but with a watermark) so it might be a good idea to download the trial and see how it works for you.
IIRC in the more expensive version it's basically the 'Prime' noise reduction that you are paying extra for and I see no evidence that it's worth the extra so £99 for the basic one.

Ah right ok then,
Might be worth me downloading the trial then and having a go with it to see what it’s like,
Always been used to Lightroom so might be more to learn,
Thanks for the input

but DxO isn't really a steep learning curve :)

I am not quite clear what you have at the moment.
You are using LR and then reference the Adobe Photography suite for £10/month.
Do you have a standalone version of LR or the suite, if you have the suite then stick with what you have got, if you are looking at DxO instead of the Adobe suite then it depends if you need the pixel editing available in Photoshop.
Personally I would go with the Adobe suite, its cheaper , has the LR database/Catalogue function ,has PS and is always up to date.
I did use DxO Optics Pro V8 some time ago but decided to go with the Adobe package.

Having used dxo pro 11 plus the dxo optics pro for apple photos ext. it includes prime nr.
Liked them a lot but prefered LR overall.

Sorry, I have the suite that includes Lightroom and photoshop etc..
Maybe I should have a try at the trial first to see what it’s like,
Saying that I’ve always been happy with Lightroom and I’ve learned how to use it ( well sort of )
I ain’t even used photoshop I wouldn’t know what to use it for,
Majority I can do in Lightroom,
I just wondered if DxO would be beneficial,
Think I’ll stick with Lightroom ?

maybe you can get some enthusiasm for LR by getting free pdf's and videos to encourage your creativity.often we get a bit bored with the routine and need a bit of stimulation
I do think ye try a demo if you want but its not going to make big changes to your images.learn better how to use what you have,(mental note to self to take my own advice ):ROFLMAO:
I have a link to some good free LR PDF's if you want just PM me.

I have LR, DXO OP versions 9 (elite) and 11 (standard) and On1 Photoraw 2018 here. I could edit on any of them, but believe I get best results with LR. DXO tends to be more/better automated that LR, which makes life easier IF you like what it does, but it's harder to get fine control than using LR. On1 is a LOT like lightroom with a pixel editor built in too, but is less refined and more awkward when it comes to making fine adjustments, though easier than DXO. If you have a Sony camera then there is a free version of Capture One available that's worth a try.
