At the moment I import into Lightroom solely on the basis of dates so folders are organised as "2013 > January > 25" etc and then keyworded appropriately. This I remain content with as a meta-manner of organising all of my imported photos.

However, when it comes to exporting, at present I export and change the settings each time to export to a folder called "Exports > Web > Place". What I am wanting to do now is effectively have folders along the following lines:

"Place/Occasion > Originals, JPGs, Uploads, Edits" with four separate folders under the main folder of the place or occasion. Edits will contain HDRs and panoramas, JPGs conversions of the original RAW files, uploads for perfected copies ready for uploading and originals the copies of original files.

What I am looking for is the most automated means possible by which I can achieve this end - does anyone have any ideas for me please?

Ingest the photos into whichever folder structure you want then import to LR.

When you have finished editing, in the export dialogue under 'location' choose 'export to same folder as original', tick the 'Put in Subfolder' box name it Export.

I really is so thick as I am having a problem learning this aspect of LR (new user  ) but can't seem to find the bit as referred by you in your post in red. Could you expand on this please?

Thanks Neil. I'm going to have to sit and work through this a little more slowly as it exports to a new folder named 'untitled export'. I am trying to work out to quickly as due out in a moment.

But thanks for your help

Back & worked through this & penny has dropped thank goodness

Great for that aspect of it - thank you.

There is no way of automatically having the unedited shots assigned to an "Originals" folder alongside the final shots? It sounds as though it may require two exports to be run - one initially when the entire batch is there (in which case can I set Lightroom to delete the originals if I am then exporting unedited copies into a new folder?).

Ciaran, if I've understood your question, you could tick the import to a second location and name this as "originals" sorting by date etc as you see fit?

set up an export preset, then tick the "choose folder later" option, export using this preset then it will ask you for location you wish to export to which you select then it exports. takes one or two extra clicks but i find it works well.

Both very helpful - thanks guys. I think a bit of juggling both of these ideas will achieve what I'm after.
