Lightroom help - Maintaining aspect ratios when cropping

Hello, I wondering if anyone can help me. In Adobe Lightroom, is it possbible to crop a shot taken in Landscape, as Portrait (or visa versa) and maintain the correct aspect ratio? I know you can crop it down smaller and maintai nthe ration, but I want to besically reverse the ratio to make a landscape shot portrait. Ive tried setting up a custom ratio, but whatever I try, it just sets it as landcscape.:thinking:
 
I had that problem yesterday but couldn't figure it out either.

I may not have understood the question correctly but do you mean like this

If you select 4x6 from the aspect cropping tool, and select your crop, while selecting the crop and holding the mouse button move your cursor 90 deg from where it is the crop area rotates from landscape to portrait.

Ah ha! Cheers bud. That was fairly logical. I never use the actual cropping tool, I tend to just drag the edges in so never figured it out. Thanks for that.:)

I found out that by accident, because I was waving the mouse about here there and everywhere and noticed it flicking between the two...
 
Actually, if you just drag the crop region by a corner far enough it snaps to the opposite orientation all by itself :thumbs:
