Lightroom creeping along

Hi,

I'm using lockdown and the generally crap weather here to go through all my LR files.

This involves opening each folder and going through the contents one by one. I deleted over 4000 on Saturday!

But the process of moving from one to the next seems to be getting slower and slower. It's really frustrating. I've tried a few things, including emptying the recycle bin but no joy. It can take ages for a colour label to appear (for example) and sometimes LR seems to momentarily shut down between operations. There must be something wrong in the settings somewhere, can anyone help me? Thanks.

The preview size comes to mind, I noticed mine slowed down quite a bit when I bumped it up a bit.

You could try purging the Image cache occasionally and Optimise the catalogue from time to time. These are all in Edit>Preferences>performance. I have set my image cache to 80GByes. I delete just after I upload the images so rarely need to delete images later.

Thanks very much for the suggestions. I tried purging the cache first and it worked a treat.......fingers crossed!
