Does anyone know please if the Lightroom Classic subscription version can be installed on the same pc as the perpetual LR6

Read different accounts about how they conflict and if I don't go ahead with the subscription wouldn't want to lose the original LR6

Thank you

I've installed Lightroom CC alongside an existing Lightroom 6.14 installation. They co-exist successfully.

The last update of Lightroom Classic CC I did had a warning message about it needing to upgrade my catalogue file which meant the catalogue file wouldn’t work with older versions of Lightroom any more (not sure which versions).

Perhaps you could backup the existing LR6 catalogue file so you have a copy to fall back onto if needed. It won’t have the newer files on it but it should have the edit history up to that point.

I’ve been on subscription long enough now that whilst I still should have Lightroom 6 on the computer it wouldn’t be much use as it’s been several years since I edited on Lightroom 6.

Thanks, good idea about the catalogue.

It's always better to have a backup. The new version would ask you to 'upgrade' after installation. Assuming you say yes, it would then copy and create a new, modified catalogue that it can read. It doesn't remove or alter the existing one. You can check the catalogue folder.

Thank you for the information.
