Hi all

Got an odd problem with my Lightroom Catalogue I need some advice over.

On my system all my Photographs are stored in one directory (Photographs) on my E: Drive and that directory is divided into years and the year directories are divided into date and subject folders and that folder is what my Lightroom catalogue is based on.

In Lightroom after performing a fresh sync on that folder it reports 207993 Images

If I check the properties of that folder using Explorer it reports that it contains 42530 Files

Anyone know why their is such are large discrepancy and were have the other 22000 photos gone to, why is lightroom not seeing them.

All images are either RAW or JPEG.

Thanks for any help with this

Paul

42530 files

207993 images .

:??

Your numbers don't add up

However gut feel i suspect the diference to be the previews / smart previews...

Check an individual folder and see what the discrepancy is in numbers on that folder. You can then investigate on a much smaller set that should be easier to diagnose the problem.

Ok Just did a side by side comparison

Figured out why most of the big difference is there, its because the Lightroom Catalogue files are also stored in the same directory as my photos, so that accounted for 20831 of the difference

File count from the side by side comparison but taking the Lightroom folder out of the equation is Lightroom showing 20973 and explorer showing 22470 so now have a missing 1677 files to locate

Will now did deeper

Hi all

looks like I have sussed the discrepancy out

If there are both RAW Files and JPEG's of the same image .Lightroom is only counting it as one image but explorer counts and shows them as separate images, so that and the Library Files accounted for the difference.

Thanks for all the help with this, it was driving me nuts.

All it needed was a bit of logic and I don't do logic

Paul
