So this is the situation. I may have missed something very obious.

1. Shoot photos tethered in Lightroom 3 on Laptop
2. Export photos as catalogue
3. Import catalogue photos onto main pc
4. Do a bit of editing
5. export as catalogue
6. import catalogue into laptop (as im away from home for a few days or have some spare time at work to play with photos)
7. do some editing
8. export catalogue again
9. Import back to main pc

At point 9, my main pc will not import the photos in the catalogue that i already have, even if they have been edited else where.

How can i get Lightroom 3 to allow me to re import photos after editing elsewhere, or do i simply have to delete the old versions from the computer before trying to re import?

Hope that makes sense, ive had a bottle of wine...

Yes.

Maybe try unchecking the option "Do not re-import suspected duplicates"??

You could use a "working" catalog that you do all the editing in, then when you're done, move them to an "archive" catalog.

You may need to rename them so there are not two files with the same name.

That maybe the fella you need to change, just batch rename them all before you Export to Catalogue

Only problem is then having the photographs to compare as they will all be labelled incorrectly, but should stay together if you sort by Capture Time
