Lightroom automatic settings

I've noticed that whenever I import photos to lightroom every one has automatic settings of +3/5 blacks (can't remember), +50 brightness and +50 contrast.

Now I don't really want anything done to my photos automatically though this doesn't appear to be in the settings so I can't change it. Lately I've been changing them all to 0's. When I do this though, the majority of shots show as underexposed... I use the curves to brighten rather than the actual brightness setting and when I do get my pictures to a normal level of brightness, they seem a little noisy, which wasn't happening with the automatic settings.

All my photos are correctly exposed in camera...

So does anyone have an idea of what's going on? I thought maybe Lightroom isn't actually adding any brightness and +50 actually means 0?

Confused :(

I have just always treated those as default values, I'm not sure why they are set with the range 0 to 100 rather than -50 to +50, it is just how Adobe have done it.

These aren't the settings you get if you press the "Auto" button.

It's not possible to display an image from raw data with nothing done to it. The processing has to do something to convert all that raw data into a proper image. Lightroom comes with a set of default parameters that should be a good starting point for most images.

However, if you don't like those default parameters then it's easy to change them. Select an image in the Develop module and change the parameters to what you want - then hold the Alt key down and the 'Reset' button in the bottom right will change to 'Set default...' click on that and you can update the default settings with the current settings. You can also have a different set of defaults for each camera and each ISO.

I was looking for something like that, I am sure in earlier versions of LR you could set the import settings for each camera in preferences or somewhere obvious :)
