Bit of a weird one, wanted to do a few quick tweaks to some old car pics which are in a subfolder of the My Documents folder, but Lightroom claims there's nothing in the My Documents folder! If I click on just 'users' folder, with subfolders enabled, it shows me all the pics in the downloads folder, but nothing from My Documents or My Pictures. If I click to the Downloads subfolder, it says there are no photos. Google came up with nothing.

Have the images been imported? If they have are they showing an exclamation mark?

If you are 100% sure that Lightroom supports the RAW files you are working with do the following

In the library module of lightroom:
  • Right click the sub folder where your pictures are saved.
  • In the menu that appears click synchronise folder
After this synchronise process is completed any image with supported file types Raw types etc will be displayed.

Oops sorry, forgot to mention this is in the import dialog to get them into a catalog in the first place.

I've noticed something similar. Sometimes - at random - LR just doesn't see images that I want to import. I know they exist but I am not given the option to import even though they have not been imported before.

I "cheat" and copy them to a folder that I have used in LR, synchronise, then process them and move the folder around in LR. Gets round the problem but I shouldn't need to do it.

Any solution will be gratefully received.

I once had a similar issue and it turned out that they were duplicates (file names) of images already in Lightroom.

You could try dragging the folder of images, or, an individual image from explorer into the grid view of the import dialogue...

Didn't know you could do that, worked a treat! Thanks!
