So, I've just upgraded my camera and taken some shots only to find out that my version of Lightroom doesn't recognise the RAW files.

I probably don't use it often enough to warrant having Creative Cloud, so the question is,

Does anyone know if LR6 recognises 80D RAW files? Or is the only way forward having to subscribe?

Thanks in advance.

You can convert your raw to DNG files then you can use your version

Or move to On1 Photoraw 2018. ;)

In the end, I bought the upgrade from Adobe, and then immediately had to upgrade the upgrade.

Now it's working properly. Thanks for the tip on the 6.14 version upgrade as 6.0 wouldn't open them either.

Adobe are sneaky though, they really don't make the upgraded version easy to find on their site. In fact I couldn't find them by visiting their site, I had to Google it and get in via a direct link to that page.

I always update from within Lightroom.

Just click on "Check for Updates" and it takes care of tiself.

The list of raw supported cameras is here, which shows that the 80D requires LR 6.5 or higher.

Don't know if that is incorrect or that they're using a different numbering system, but I can confirm that 6.14 definitely opens RAW files from an 80D and that 6.14 is the last version of the perpetual licence version there is.

I can only assume that 6.5 is part of CC.

On that note, I tried updating from within version 6 and the only option it gave me was to switch to Creative Cloud. They're definitely trying to force people onto the monthly payment scheme.

6.5 is the Minimum Lightroom Perpetual version required.
Last time I checked 6.5 was lower than 6.14, which is the final version of "perpetual" Lightroom, and which is what I use to open my 80D files.
I updated from 6 to 6.14 from within Lightroom, just by clicking "Check for updates" and no mention of CC, so they must have changed something

PS - I think your link is broken, it just links back to this thread.
Thank you - link corrected.

Canons own digital photo professional 4 is free for Canon users, it's a good alternative for those not wanting to pay for Lightroom for quick and easy raw processing.
