Lightroom 4 Trial question

We are currently running lightroom 3 in the studio - I had considered downloading the trial of 4 to see how the computer copes now its running 20gb of ram.

My only concern is vaguely remembering something about it the form of the catalogues being different and updated ones could no longer be used in LR3 - so if we decide that 4 isn't worth it the catalogues won't be backwards compatible when we revert back to 3.

any ideas?

Just tick the option not to convert to new method then you're lr3 edits will be left as is.

LR 4 is a big improvemnet (IMHO) the new process is a lot better, that said a lot of people are having speed issues with it, mine works just fine but it seems to a case of try it and see if it works for your computer sadly.

Light years better than 3 and no speed issues

It pretty much is night and day - I'm finding it much better for B&W conversions.

Ran into a wee problem when exporting to CS5 to work on images and then wanting them dropped back into the catalogue!

Now on the creative cloud thing with adobe so running CS6 for 14 quid a month!

win.
