i have been eyeing a lighting tent with lights from a uk supplier off e bay with 2 diffrent colour back drops aswell this going for around the £40.00 mark the question i need to know is would i gain anything from using there lights or would it be better to go and buy the lights from lets say argos as desk lamps and buy a foldable light tent off e bay 80 cm one for £15.00 and two lamps for less than a fiver

never used or bought lights so im not to up to scratch on lighting

i am really tempted with the kit dont mind speding that sort of money on one if good enough i will be doing alot of close up shots

They're both very cheap and you can't go far wrong with either at those prices if you really do want a light tent.
but the lights supplied with the kit aren't impressive, you'd be far better off using flash, even a couple of hotshoe flashes would be more controllable and would have infinitely more power. With the lights supplied my guess is that you'd need a sturdy tripod, large apertures and high ISO

can you suggest some lights on e bay that are good i dont know the first thing bout lighting its all a bit new to me i would prefer tent for the smallnes and are a good price

some thing same sort of size is there a quick defintion guide about the diffrent types just so i know the diffrence between them or is there a good book explaining the diffrences between lighing set ups and settings to use

so if the bulbs aint powerfull enough cant you just upgrade the bulbs power to compensate this

If I were looking for lights for a light tent I would go for fluorescent lamps with say 4 lights in a large reflector (fluorescent don't get hot so can be placed right up against the light tent if required)

Just make sure that the Colour Rendition Index is clearly stated at that it's at least 90, otherwise colours such as reds and oranges will look terrible. Don't consider the 'household' type which are cheaper.

Decent sized cardboard box, 2 sheets of white A4 paper (or white ripstop nylon if you have some lying about) and a bit of coloured/black/white card to make a seamless background.

Total cost £0.05 and it'll work just as well ;)

Oh,and a couple of desklamps with daylight bulbs in them :)
