Hi there,

I have have just started out in photography and have only ever done studio shoots and landscape...But really want to do an outdoor dusk/dawn shoot with a model.

How do i set lighting up outside electrical wise or would it be possible to just use a reflector, if the reflector idea works, could anybody recommend one to me please?

Thankyou,
Hannah Smith

You could run two Yongnuo flashes with Yongnuo RF603triggers add a pair of lightstands with a softox and umbrella mounts etc...

Probably cost £150 ish for all the kit.. See Flash in the Pan in Classifieds for advertisers.

then there is a much higher power option with the Lencarta Safari http://www.lencarta.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=20&Itemid=53

This is more powerful, lighter and much cheaper than the closest rivals.. Like the Elinchrom Ranger Quadra..

See the pinned thread on lighting systems by Tyke Tiler in the Talk lighting section...It has lots of important info.

You either get flashheads as suggested above, or get studio lights which can be battery powered (usually expensive).

hot shoe flashes are amazing for this stuff, if you want to kill the sun get yee to a calumet and rent some profoto powered stuff

My personal choice would be a westcott apollo 28" softbox, a 580exII a pair of atlas radio triggers (or under this kind of light another 580exII or an ST-E2 would work well to give ttl) on a calumet ultra portable stand

to save money a 430exII would work (assuming you have one flash its nice to have ttl) after that I'd go to a YN 560

RF602s are good triggers and cheaper than the atlas's

different softboxes can be had cheaper, I think FiTP carries them

hit up the strobist blog aswell as Joe McNallys

Hi Hannah, if you're getting into "strobist" type portable lighting you might be interested in joining the Fllick midlandstrobists group to meet up with some like minded people. Four of the group (that I know of) are on TP of which three of us are in/around Loughborough.
