Guys I wanted to know the different ways you have lit inside a hilight background??

1 flash head, 2 studio lights constant light source?

Looking to get one and just exploring the lighting options

Thanks

Steve

(not sure how it got the nsfw title??? Lol!)

about to start using 1 400w light head and hoping thats enough to get an even white light at a decent aperture.

Thanks for that but I have read this already

I wanted to hear what ingenious ways people have come up with to get either the desired or a creative result using the hi lite

Anyone else?

Thanks

Why would you want to ignore the proper way of using something?

I've used mine as a background, shot silhouettes and used it as a giant softbox, but really other than sticking a couple of lights in it and using like that what else would you want to do with it.

I have also seen it used as a window. Pop a rail over it and hang curtains either side and you can use it as a window set. (Thanks again to Mark Cleghorn for that one)

I suppose you could use it as a prop and set fire to it! lol

I've certainly sworn at mine often enough to be tempted.

To get it even all over you need two heads - you can do it with hot-shoe guns. Just angle them back a bit to make sure that no light falls directly on the front, or use a reflector/shield/flag or summat to shade the front surface.

It works by containing the light inside, forcing it to bounce around as much as possible to even out the coverage, before it finds its way out of the front.
