That Westcott umbrella kit is overpriced for what you're getting (separately it's about £35), and it's not asif the Westcott brollies have a good reputation.

The continuous lighting kit is just totally useless.

Just remember that as well as the umbrella and stand you'll need a flashgun, triggers and I'd also say; rechargeable batteries and a charger, and add a 5 in 1 reflector. £100 should do it.

But if it's just for studio use, a proper single head flash kit would be worth the extra, the modelling light and recycle times are not to be sniffed at.

Yeah I've taken into account the flash triggers etc, I'll look into the proper single head flash kit, cheers phill

What Phil said. I spent a reasonable amount of money on speed lights and modifiers when starting out. If I had my time again I'd go straight for a studio head. At the price point, none better than the lencarta smartflash.

I don't disagree Shaheed :).

Ideally you'd have both. I prefer studio heads, but sometimes strobes are still the best option (although they can be a pain).

True!! I do still have two sb900's (I bought one brand new, for which price I could have got a smart flash kit which is what I do the majority of portrait work with) that said some of my fave shots are with my speedlights and very useful when out and about!!
