I'm looking for a lightbox to photography salmon and trout flies as well as larger objects such as Corgi cars and coffee coasters.

What should I use?
Preferably I wouldn't mind making one, but when I get a good sized cardboard box, what should I line the inside with?
Also, what should I do about lighting?

Are you thinking of a light tent?
A cardboard box would stop light getting at the object, whereas you could use window light or a flash/flashes to surround the object with light.

... a basic light tent :)
Paper or muslin taped/stapled over the holes.
Use off-camera flash.
