Light tripod for travelling?

Hi all
I am off to Chile in a few weeks and am doing some hiking but then going to the Atacama desert. For the desert i aim to take some photos at night of the stars and therefore need to take a tripod/monopod with. Any recommendations as i need something light as for 5 days i will be carrying everything with me.

Currently kit wise i am aiming to take my Canon 6d and 16-35 2.8.....i am also debating what kit i take! but need to keep to smallest amount possible.

If it's in your budget the Q-666C is available from Amazon for £90 and gets excellent reviews. If you have a bigger budget the Mefoto range (backpacker) or perhaps a 3 legged thing, again they get excellent reviews.

If you want ultra compact but obviously without the height then consider a gorillapod type solution, always handy to have anyway.

What ever your budget, a better travel tripod choice is a four section tripod since it is more compact.
For my purposes (big to very big lenses with gimbal heads), I only use 3 section tripods.
 
I guess i'm willing to spend up to 150 to get what i need. As will be useful going forward etc.
 
Some that are light are not compact (when folded), it all depends what you are after. I have a Giottos CF tripod that cost about £100, but it is not as sturdy or as compact as my 3LT Punks tripod. The 3LT one although aluminium and in budget is only about 300g heavier than the Giottos one, but is much more compact when folded. It also has a decent ball head, well up to a 6D and 16-35. My only complaint is that the bag is quite tight, and its difficult to get it out of the bag quickly!!
