Hope you can give me some pointers guys.
I've recently started shooting and reviewing some stuff for a local RC car magazine and part of this is to provde some white-drop detail shots of the cars and some components. In the past I have bumbled through with sheest of paper, long exposures and light painting, but i'm wanting to do something a bit better than this, although still keep costs fairly low at this stage.
I've contemplated a bigger backdrop to set up ni our spare room, but feel this may be slightly overkill considering what i'm undertaking and the lack of other lighting kit, so have turned to the eBay-style light tents as inspiration. Are these any good??
For an idea of what i'd be shooting and what kit i've got, see below;
- RC cars and equipment - up to around 18" long (roughly)
- Other small things for ebay and other sales
- Canon 50d with Tamron 17-50 F2.8
- Canon 430EXII
- Cactus V4 flash trigger
- Cheap small circular silver/white reflector
- Tripod
The spare room where I'm looking to set this up get great sunlight over the afternoons and evenings, so am thinking that I may get away with using a light tent, reflector on the wall-side, natural light through the window and some fill flash from the 430EXII. Can any one guide me? I'm keen not to spend on some far-eastern inport lights to find them useless in a few weeks, but in the same mind i'm also not in the position to spend hundreds on equipment just yet.
Hope you can help!
