Hi...I have a set of interfit stellar lights...and a largish softbox.. the kit stands that came with the lights are ok until you put the softbox on...then they go rather bendy..... Anyone got any recommendations for decent heavyish duty light stand...and even better one that can be used to make the softbox go parallel to ground on a counterbalanced arm? (hope that makes sense....got a feeling this is going to cost more than the lights!)

I use the Giottos LC210-1 from Warehouse Express... It's not the cheapest you can buy but it's very stable and air-damped too.

Thanks for the link..the giottos' things look like my current stands....but Wharehouse express have a manfrotto thing that looks just like what I'm after!...only it's £130+...ouch!

i think manfrotto make some called "nano's" there meant to be strong and sturdy but apparently expensive at around £50 each, also look at the calumet branded ones.

no not with studio heads :D they're ultra portable for speedlights and uber bendy loaded :p I wouldn't be without mine as they're ace at what they're for

Have a look at Manfrotto autopoles and clamps, you can then attach a light anywhere along its length, plus no legs to trip over and they have so many uses.

Are these auto poles like acroprops? IE They telescope out and lock in place between to surfaces .....you could brace them either side of a window frame and roll seamless background off them? Or between a floor and ceiling then clamp a cross pole off it to hand light from? Is that the idea?

Thanks for the continued info!

I have already googled autopoles and found the manfrotto info..i was hoping for some clarification from someone who has used them as to how and if they work...cheers for info so far everyone
