I've been out and about, and i've seen pros, and amatures using these little teeny light stands.

They're basically a single peg that pushes into the ground, but you can attach your flash to the top of it for off camera lighting..

They're about 6-8 inches high, and normally a dark colour.

Does anyone know where i can find these 'stands'? i'm desperate to get off camera flash working, but i cannot stand carrying big ol' lightstands with me up a mountain, or through a forest, with them catching on everything. this type of peg also means that the flash can stay on the stand, and i can bungee them to trees etc...

Anyone got any ideas?

erm..... canon (and i guess nikon) flashes come with a foot that they stand on, is that it?

if you want a spike what about getting a normal ground spike with a threaded end and screwing it into the thread on the foot?

Nope, they're definately stakes that go into the floor. I'm still looking. Hoping to meet someone with a set of them this weekend, so i'll ask them..

if its not something you can buy out the shop
as in custom
then maybe like a flag pole or something with a tripod screw thing on the top?
