That is very interesting stuff CT ... and some complicated sums to get there too !

About what I had understood the average to be ...

Interestingly, or not as the case may be, we have been in our current house for nearly 4 years and have been hand feeding one particular Robin for all of that time ... and the occasional other Robin along hte way but he is a distinctive constant !

So he is at least 3.5 years old by our reckoning ...

Thanks for sharing CT,
You must have read my mind because I was wondering about this just today after Id heard a loud thud at the bottom of my garden. I was surprised to find the cause of the loud thud was a mere blue tit that had apparently fallen down dead from my massively tall Poplar tree. I wondered what the cause of death might have been & so it lead me to pondering their lifespan... oops, but now Im rambling!

Well I didn't know that. Great find CT.

Unfortunately our Robin hasn't appeared this year.

I had no idea their lives were so short. :'( Makes me feel better about feeding them now.

There`s a pied wagtail that visits my works, its been visititing for the last 3-4 years. We call it `One foot` (for obvious reasons!)
