Libreoffice for Mac should be good - I use it on Linux and windows machines, and found it handles microsoft office docs better than native mac applications, with less mangling of formatting and better handling of spreadsheets and graphs.
i use LibreOffice for Mac but mainly to share with people on Windows. Apple’s Pages is much easier and better looking and works well with Numbers too. Now they’ve added text box linking its much improved but still not as good as the previous version — for example you can’t do mail merge and text in rotated boxes don’t automatically straighten when you enter text in them. If Pages will do what you want then use that but if you want to share editing with others who are not on Macs and/or don’t have access to the iCloud version, use LibreOffice.
