Has anyone heard of Leyton Camera Store? I've tried to purchase a lens from thme via credit card but they don't accept that particular card, even though the site states they do... ... They have sent me an automated email asking me to do a bank transfer instead... ... i thought i'd consult with you guys before considering chucking a load of money away... ...

Thanks in advance...

Moey!

What's the website URL? It sounds incredibly fishy from that description. And, of course, if it's too good to be true...

Domain created 1th April 2012 - Lithuanian origin

ALARM BELLS - secure your credit card information with your bank and do not proceed with any further attempts to buy from this site.

I looked at these earlier - the shop isn't theirs according to google maps... Not only that Leyton aint that far from me & I dont ever remember seeing any camera shops down that road when I've been down it...

I would personally stand clear of it as well....

I've just tried finding it on google earth... the london address shows a cornershop under a foreign name.. .. well, i'm glad i didn't try and pay by direct debit or bank transfer... mind you, i may be stupid, but not that stupid, lol..

hmm Leyton cameras would suggest East London no?

The appalling spelling and grammar, coupled with the fact an alledgedly UK shop is pricing up in Euro's...

Surely that should set the alarm bells ringing before you attempt to purchase or try to find the shop?

Hopefully you stopped it in time, otherwise you may find your CC has been purchasing white goods in Vilnius (or worse!)

Be warned guys, this is a fraud website, they were yorkshire cameras and they copy little bits of everyones website, one point stating part of Martins Camera Shop, Camerabox, Buyacamera.... but they're not they're a fake and a scam, for more info check out this link on Yorkshire cameras, they were someone else before also but can't remember the name:

Looking at the site, their prices marked up in Euros, checking the domain registry, seeing nothing on Google Streetview, and the reluctance or inability to process credit cards requesting bank transfers instead... if just one of these had happened to me, alarm bells would be ringing. With them all, I couldn't advise more than to stay away!

That's interesting, I remember being bemused by 'Martins Camera Shop' which on streetview was a hairdressers shop in a small village.

I was living there for a while, never heard of anything like that. So just let your bank know about the situation. And its really sad that some scammers from the same country, put big shame on all of us :(

Hi Like you i tried to buy a lens from then last night and got the same
they don't accept my type of card, so sent them an email - only reply i got to that was that the card payment system was down and they would let me know
when it was back up again, it wasn't till today when i tried to find out more info
on them that i found this site and also this one,
http://www.scamwebsites.co.uk/avoid-these-scam-websites/categoryseo/4-photographic.html

No money has gone from my account - but for now I've moved it in to another,
one other thing i don't know if you have done, but ive removed my address and details from their site, as it asks for you to reg before buying

It doesn't matter who it is. I don't need to know their name, website or address. Any firm denying you the use of a credit card whilst asking for bank trans should be enough to make you look for an alternative supplier.

There's no registered company called Sliler Centre UK Limited which Leyton say they are.

legit trader, stop being bemused.

No Leyton Cameras in Leyton. For sure.

No trace on telephone or address.
