Ok guys I belong to a nails site that to be honest has gone down the pan a bit of late due to the influx of 'Sharon & Tracy's'. ;)
So, to remind said people that its a nails forum and not just a chat site, every few months we have what we call a 'Brave Day' & this is the way it goes ....

Someone starts the thread off saying what would nailwork would push them out of their comfort zone, and then everyone else posts what nail system/art/style they shy away from. Then a date is proposed, and on said date, everyone has to post pics of the work ... that being the work they shy away from doing.

I was thinking it might work here too ... not that this site has gone down the pan, rofl!
No, I just thought it might be a bit of fun, to try & get us motivated to shoot out of our comfort zones. For instance I cant imagine for the life of me shooting Street Candids but, Im willing to have a go if peeps are up for playing ... any takers?

Oh, and Im wearing red pointed stilleto's for tomorrows brave day ... nooo! not those. .. tis a nail shape!

I would have to say this is a great idea. It has to be things that move (other than with 4 legs) that is the hardest for me. But this Sunday I'm going to a rally race sooo I'll be getting out of my comfort zone there.

this sounds like an idea, we could make it a regular feature!

Anything that requires talking to people I've never met before and directing them to do stuff when I have noe clue what I should be directing them to do.

Sounds like a great idea - except anything other than people shots takes me away from my comfort zone  Landscapes are probably my biggest challenge though - I just don't seem to be able to 'see' or take a decent shot :(

Yeah I'm willing to team up with Pete and force myself to do a glamour shoot (thats photograph a lady, not be photographed), god I'd hate that, no I really would.....seriously......okay maybe not :p

Anything involving people, animals, inanimate objects or scenery :)

I'm sure they're looking for volunteers for next years "Men of TPF" calendar.

He! he! that makes two of us Min.... but thats kind of the idea.
We all get pushed to do what we really dont want to but its done light-heartedly, and when we post our pics up, we receive helpful constructive critisism from the peeps who are used to doing the thing we dont like/are scared to do!

If I think about it ... I could start with just about any subject, rofl!

well i'm suprememly confident with my camera and my skills with it, so i'll have to leave that alone.......as normal and try something else.

:D

Ha! ha! be interesting how many of us would actually go ahead on this subject.
I know a lot of you lads think you'd love to do it... but when that half naked model is in front of you and the pressure is on ... could you perform?
Ok... better not answer that one!

Just LOL

 you got to know by now what a macro lens can do :naughty:

Candids here to - not that I've posted much of anything recently

 Just posting shots on here takes me out of my comfort zone - lol

I used to assist a glamour/page 3 tog (the guy who took the early topless shots of Geri Haliwell and made a bomb btw) and it was always just a work thing. I could be laying on the floor point a fan up a models skirt and all I'd worry about is how the skirt was blowing about. But then in that line of work you have to be extremely professional or word will soon spread.

You mean we have actually got to take pictures of thing's..........Count me out then, can't do with all that, i mean, come on, think of all the extra work involved.

If I'm being honest, I don't think I would...I'd go to pieces....Not because she's half naked (yes, the model is now a she...lol), but because I'm not very confident behind the camera, especially with people...

Which leads me onto my brave thing, and that would be candids. The photography I don't mind, it's not really out of my comfort zone to take pictures of people who don't know I'm doing it, so to speak....

It's the talking to people, that's my problem. It's being able to have the balls to point my camera at someone. Some days I can do it...most days I can't.

I can see people photography / candids etc being a common theme here....

We need Rob to organise a course in how to do it :D

I'm fairly sure I could. What I've found with photography is that given time to breath I'll get results. I've shot a girl in her underwear and you just have to put the whole "omg she's freaking hot!!!" stuff to the back of your mind and think about the shots. Its quite simple when you're shooting for someone else as I don't like to fail people and I doubt they'd accept "hehe scary hot naked chick" as an excuse for no photos ;)

As for pushing my comfort zone, tbh a nude shoot would be pushing it. I've had some ideas floating around my head, of trying to do something bold, daring, and slightly public, but I just can't really work things out and I feel it'd just be cheesy. I just can't imagine asking a girl to open her legs without my head exploding. For that reason alone, pushing my limits not exploding my head, I do want to do it. Hmmmm, erotic hdr... I wonder :naughty:

Yep, a day out with Rob (Arkady) will soon sort you all out!

I was thinking of booking some studio time next year for a Glamour shoot, but I've been reticent to do it in case only 2 people turned up on the day.
If I were to organise it, I'd have to ask for money up front (no refunds) and it'd be limited to a maximum of 5 people (too crowded otherwise).
It would be at a Studio in the South, probably this one :

Let me know what you think - if there's enough interest, I'll work out prices for a day's shoot with, say, three different models in various different parts of the studio - that way I can do a bit of coaching and everyone else can get on with shooting instead of peering over each other's shoulders while they take turns - which is not ideal...

I'd certainly be up for it - I'd love to do some fine art nude type stuff. No-one I know is willing to get their kit off for me!

Can we make it a duty Rob so I can claim mileage, room and rates? Subject of course to the following JPA nightmare.

Book yourself into the Visitor's Accom here at Uxbridge and we'll go from there - there must be a 'course' you can palm it off as...

Give it another 12 months and I'll claim it as resettlement.

Street candids, don't have the balls to just pull my camera out and start snapping away at people I don't know or that I don't have consent from.

I'd fancied a go at street candids for quite a while but never had the balls to give it a go. As posted a couple of weeks ago, myself and Catdaddy got brave and took to the streets of Reading to try our hand. I have to say it really isn't as daunting as I thought it would be. Once you get over the initial nerves and start squeezing the shutter you're confidence starts to build. One thing I gained from the day was that it's always worth trying the things you're not sure that you're capable of! You might just surprise yourself!

Would like to do some street photography of people but never have the nerve to do it, so would be out of my comfort zone (which seems to be animals at the moment) i am shy so hate speaking to people i dont know, hence why when been on a TP meet you will find me at the back on my own :|

Be a good test to see if you can keep your cool and still think about composition, etc...

OK that's one...

Well, studio and model photography is something I'd love to have a go at, so the opportunity of picking up some tips along the way would be most welcome, so...

...make that two

I think the next step would have to be shoving a camera in peoples' faces without using a 70-300mm zoom!

We'll soon change that on the Yorkie meet Sue ;)
