Has anyone ever had a go using this lenticular 3d technology. I know Fuji haven't released their version yet but does anyone know if there are any companies out there producing lenticular prints from pairs of 'stereo images'?

Google Nimslo which was a controversial lenticular 3D film based camera system in the 80s. Basically a glorified version of those awful postcards. Hailed as the future of photography, it was a commercial flop, on a grand scale.

The camera used four lenses and took four stereo pictures simultaneously which were cut into tiny strips and merged in special processing. The final print had four image planes at different distances, or something like that. I don't recall exact details.

The prints looked wierd. Each image plane like a cardboard cutout. I've got a few somewhere. Interesting, but naff.

There have been lots of attempts over the years to make 2D photography more realistic, by making it 3D. The results have always looked incredibly unrealistic and have never found an application outside scientific use.

Edit: I've found a link to the camera: http://www.butkus.org/chinon/nimslo_3d/nimslo.htm

That's great. Thanks for the reply. I'll wait to see what Fuji have come up with. Can't imagine it's going to take off.
