Hello,

Anyone know where I can buy a 70 to 200 VR Nikon and a 50mm F1.4 AF Nikon using credit facilities? Don't fancy plonking down £1350 all in one go, but monthly payments not an issue...

Gary.

Warehouseexpress does.

Jessops do a buy now pay in 12months but the deal might have to include a camera body - you'll have to check.

out of curiosity what lenses do you have? I think I remember (may have this totally wrong) you having lots and lots of equipment and covering your sensor in dirt?

edit: sorry just read your footnote thing

Yeah, I thought so too....

I reckon April Fool's has come early this year  :coat:

Positive.
Its the online only part of Jessops, under a different name.
You'll notice they stock a lot of the same stuff, and they use the same finance scheme.

Not the case I'm afraid. A lot of sellers stock similar items and they all use outside finance companies for credit, so Jessops and WHE just happen to use the same one. And WHE are no longer Online only as they have a store in Norwich and they also tried to purchase some of Jessops less profitable stores, but Jessops refused.

warehouse express is much cheaper than Jessops, and jessops won't pricematch them normally, unless they have the prcematch ad in the magazines, which they haven't for a while. I have an incling that you may be wrong tbh, WE have a much wider range of stock i think.

Jessops you have to pay a fee if you pay off your credit early, with WE you dont.

and unless one bought out the other very recently, then they deffinatley arent connected.

Barclays Finance used by Jessops and Warehouse express. Used to be Clysedale finance.
You can do the BNPL scheme - Or get a payment book and pay for it monthly yourself at P/O or banks. :)
I only know so much cos its the same one we use at work [my day job lol]

Yeah you do:

The address sort of gives it away:lol:

Hmm ok, now my bad! When I got my credit at the end of last year they had just switched from Clysdale to Barclays but I was told there was still no settlement fee. Hmm guess I need to check my small print!

Might pay to shop around, APR on WE's finance is high unless you do a buy now pay later though I don't know if that covers all the stuff on their site

A lot of these stores charge silly APR's heading towards 30%, I'd say you would be better seeking out alternate finance options such as a loan etc if you cant afford to pay for it all up front.

LOL what matty said ^^ :p

hehe my plan was to put £200 to one side each month to pay off all my kit in 12 months. 3 months in and I have £0 put to one side :|

I bought my 30D from WE on their 12 months interest free setup as dellipher says they use Barclays Finance who used to be Clydesdale Finance, back then it was pretty painless to set up (took about a week) but I was never sure if I could make interim payments, I kept the cash and paid it all off in one go after 9 months.

Save up for it. Always cheaper in the end.

0% finance is the way to go, but only if you're disciplined enough to put the money away to pay it off when the time comes. It then automatically goes to a monthly HP payment with an onerous interest rate! The finance company are obviously hoping you don't pay it off.

I take a bonus in July and another in January, so paying it off isn't an issue. If I buy it outright just now, my wife will kick me in the balls, otherwise I would. Marriage is great

Buy now pay later is how we've bought our gear from jessops they price matched too , dont think they do price-match anymore though :(
Pete

I've used Cameraking and Dabs before to make big purchases on say deposit/pay balance in 12 months time. Alway make sure I pay it up before you start paying the monthly instalments/mega interest.

Always buy my new computers on that basis and might do a bit of negotiating as well at same time!

The answer to your question is Grays of Westminster. As you're looking for Nikon gear you are in luck, any other shop and you'll be looking at deferred payment plans with high APR's - I have to come up with a grand in the next few days to pay off Jessops. If you want to buy a sofa or car on credit you just have to watch the TV ads for a few minutes, but camera gear no chance.
