Hi all..
I know TP is associated with lensesforhire.co.uk and rightfully so too. I haven't got one bad word to say about these guys. Very helpful and they knew about every tech aspect of the lens I was after
I had been let down by another camera'rent equipment company. Who I won't mention but had a wedding to shoot and pre-booked a 2.8 70 - 200 weeks ago. After it not turning up on Friday when arranged (7-12) - I started to panic... Then I was palmed of with various excuses that it had been shipped, and rang the previous day to say it was ready to be dispatched and at the time being sent private courier!
When it didn't turn up after wasting hours of precious time, when I could of been working - waiting for something that never turned up, I was told the lens was damaged when it came back on Thursday, even though I was told it was ready to be shipped I became to realise I'm dealing with cowboys here. They then reported to say that their managing director (this was at 1pm) on the friday was going out especially to purchase a lens and get it couriered to me by 5.30 and that I would get it. Was expecting a phone call back, nothing! This was now at 2.30pm... I doubt the company could courier me a lens from buckinghamshire, same day, all the way up to the midlands in 3hrs?!
I decided to give a couple of other companies a ring in desperation, nothing! However rang lensesforhire (seem like busy company- phone was engaged) - but en devoured to keep trying, this is now 2.40pm! Got through in the end! So helpful and although they didn't have the lens in stock that I wanted, they sorted me out with a 80-200 2.8, which in all fairness is cracking piece of glass. Pretty much used to the 70-200 but by all means, will consider this lens again. Sharp - it doesn't focus as fast as my previous 70-200 but that didn't spoil the day, on the D3 body it handled everything brilliantly!
Push and pull ring zoom I got used too!
The guys even rang my good lady to tell me it had been shipped, it arrived on Sat morning as promised and wedding rehearsal, preshoot and wedding went really well
It shocks me that the original company I rang had dissapointed me? Considering they tell customers, they can meet important requirements for clients with ease and they will deliver by all means! Not the case...
Thumbs up to lensesforhire... will be using them again..
