Hi I have a Canon EOS1000D with the 18-55 kit lens and a 70-300mm Tamron Lens. Im fairly happy with the Tamron and use it mainly for action photos such as showjumping.

I tend to use the kit lens for most other stuff - mainly landscapes and nature but I know its the not the best lens. I'm just wondering is it worth me selling the kit lens and getting the 18-55 IS lens or is there any others that you would recommend ?

Your kit lens actually isn't too bad. Probably worth keeping until you decide what you need from your next lens. Do you want something that's better in low light ? Consider the 50mm 1.8 at around £95 or do you fancy a standard zoom, 24-70 2.8. Canon version around £950, probably get a Sigma for half that price s/h. Lenses...it's a minefield, good luck.

Not worth going from 18-55 to 18-55 IS. Best to replace with Something like:

Sigma 17-70 f2.8 -f4 OS HSM - £310 @ Bristol Cameras
Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di II VC - £420 aprox
Canon 17-55 f2.8 IS USM - £750 aprox
Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM - £250
Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM - £950 - No image stabaliser
Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM - £520

These are the ones i'm looking at.
