No idea what has happened but my 17-55 has started sticking in certain positions when I use the zoom on it and there is definitely something loose inside which sounds like a small piece of plastic has broken off something and is floating about.

If I turn the lens to certain positions it seems to be free and works fine.

Anyone else had this fault ?

Obviously long term I will need to get it repaired so anyone recommend a good, cheap, fast turnaround reputable repairer too ?

Many thanks

Tony

You might be better checking out the cost of a mint/Exc ++, used one from a reputable shop or specialist dealer with good, long, warranty, and balance that against the cost of a repair and weigh up your options?

Edit: Oh, hang on, that's the expensive EF-S lens isn't it? Maybe ask for a quote from Canon's Service Centre in Elstree then?

Yes, they seem to go for £300 to £350 ish so hoping a sensible price repair will be possible.
