Lens hood for Sony a6000 ?

Hello all,

Not that I do this much but every time I take the Sony out in the rain the lens ends up covered in rain , I know big shock ! When this happens it's hard to tell if you have fully cleared the lens as the rear screen and EVF are not really big enough to tell. My thoughts were to fit a lens hood but them I realized that even fitting a filter causes vignetting so what are my options if any ?
 
To suggest anything people need to know what lens you're using.
 
Assuming you are referring to the 16-50 kit lens (I think most others come with a lens hood), you need to find something that screws into the filter thread.
I have a metal lens hood (JJC LH-S1650) for mine - which does help in avoiding flare, but is not very deep, so I doubt it would be of much help against rain.
A quick search on Amazon for 'Lens Hood Sony 16-50pz shows there are a few options, but the two main designs are either teh metal type I have, or a 'tulip' shaped plastic hood - which again look like it would offer little in the way of protection from rain on the front element (they appear to use a screw in adaptor, with the hood then fitting in that, but they are wide and shallow, as then need to avoid vignetting at the wide end.
 
Not for that lens but for film era lenses and even modern ones I've just been buying the metal ones off ebay similar to that one Jonathan mentions. You can get vented ones and unvented so I think you'll be going for unvented. If you're happy with one of these you'll probably get one for around £5, Note the filter thread size you'll need though.
