I`m looking to hire before i buy and would like some recomendations of companies you`ve actually used, thanks Harvey

I've just hired a Sony FE 70-200 from Hireacamera.com last weekend for a wedding and it was really easy. The lens was well packed in a Peli case and came with a uv filter fitted and lens hood. I then re-packaged the lens in the Peli and fitted two tie wraps to seal it (included) and put it in a return postal bag with label. The APC courier then collected the lens on Monday morning and I received a refund of my deposit yesterday. Definitely recommend them.

Another plus 1 for lenses for hire.
Ive had umpteen flawless hires with them.

Yep just returned 24-70 MKII canon lens to lenses for hire. They are fantastic, had a few lenses off them now.

www.lensesforhire.co.uk are very good - I've used them dozens of times without issue.

I believe they actually have a 50% off sale on during February too.
:plus1: for lensesforhire

Thanks very much guys.

Yes we do have a sale on in February. Everything *booked* this month is 50% off the list price, even if the actual hire dates are beyond February.

I have just arranged to hire a Canon 500mm F/4L II over christmas and am extremely impressed with LensesForHire's service and helpfulness so far.

I wish there was a decent lens rental place over here. Don't think LFH do delivery to Eire?

Yes we do.

Unfortunately, since you're outside the UK we'd have to ask for a refundable security deposit (there's a facility to the website to do that). And we probably need to assume that delivery will take two days rather than next day as it is in most of the UK. (You don't pay for the time it's in transit, so this is a practical logistical concern rather than a financial one.) But otherwise, no problem.

I'm not on TP all day but by all means email or call the office if you have any questions.

Is that a typo, or is there an issue I need to address?

....I think that Cheffievrs is trying to say that he used a company called 'Hire a lens' and that he "didn't have much joy" with Lenses For Hire.

Personally I find it extremely difficult to understand how anyone could not be both very happy and impressed by Lenses For Hire!

I always use The Flash Centre... Fab bunch of peeps.

I also read it that way and like you cannot readily understand someone having a poor experience with LFH.

To state as he did without an explanation/qualification was not too helpful to either others interested in hiring a lens or Stewart in giving him an opportunity to answer & address the posters concerns!

A couple of years ago I phoned up to enquire about a 500mm for 3 days and I spoke to a guy and he was helpful and said to book online, so I did..

An hour later I got an email from Beccy saying I couldn't hire because it was too short a hire period, and I needed to extend the duration of the hire.. After an exchange of emails, I went elsewhere.!

That sounds odd. I'd like to follow this up. I'll send you a PM.

I haven't used / needed to hire a lens so far, but from the positive feedback I read about very frequently on here, I'd certainly try Stuart @ lensesforhire without question.
