What the best cloth and solution to clean lens glass? And best place to get it from.. Someone other day was saying get B+W cleaning solution and cloth...

Spudz are good and all over ebay for next to nothing.

Are they not a type of crisps? Snak-a-jacks or something?

I bought a lenspen, they are ace. Def recomment one.

Lenspen out of jessops, 8 quid, super and takes up little space. I suppose you could find it cheaper shopping around

Lenspen, they were 3 for £7 when I got mine from 7dayshop!

Spudz cloths are good too, although charging extra for the 18% grey one is sneaky...

Lens tissues and solution from any 1/2 decent camera shop.

Lenspen from 7day (if you can wait)

All I've ever done is breath on the lens to get a nice mist and gently wipe with a soft cloth. Repeat as necessary.

If you use lens cleaning solution, don't use it directly, it's far too strong, apply to the cloth sparingly and then to the lens.

If you get a fingerprint on your lens, deal with it straight away. Fingerprints are basically just sweat, and in some people, it contain acids strong enough to rust metal. It will make short work of etching a permanent print pattern into your lens coating.

Interesting! I was about to ask how often you should clean a lens. I have NEVER cleaned mine in 6 months since new and I own nothing in the way of cleaning materials etc, other than my mouth and a couple of microfibre cloths from a cheap shop (sorry, cant think what it's called. the missus loves it, but i call it bum bargains. it's something like that, anyways).

Another vote for the lenspen. Jessops ones aren't the cheapest, but it's only £8, which is nothing compared to the outlay most of us have set down..

I quite enjoy cleaning the lenses occasionally - gives me an odd sense of wellbeing to know I'm caring for my delicate and expensive equipment... plus it lets me keep a good close eye on general wear/tear etc..

Just clean it when it looks like it needs it. We probably worry too much about the odd bit of dust on there anyway. Rubbing too hard at that multii coating can do more harm than good. Many a lens has been spoiled by over-zealous cleaning.

mine was £8 from jessops as i didnt have time to wait for delivery
