Im about to buy a Haida 10 stop filter, circa £30, but have a new dilemma

In the last month I've got myself a 5d, a tamron 11-16 and a sigma 24-70.

Problem is, the tamron only works at 16mm on the 5d which is certainly nice and wide, and obviously wider than the 24-70.

But I only really want to buy one ND 10 stop filter and they are both different filter sizes so if you had to choose one to use with a big stopper which one would you use?

I presume you are talking screw on circular filter? Can't you buy a filter for the larger size and use a stepping ring so it fits the smaller one as well or am I missing something? They only cost a couple of quid on fleabay

yep screw on, sorry should have been clearer.

Thing with the slip in filters etc is they're not light tight as far as I know? Or again, have I missed something? (its entirely possible :( )

I think you miss what I am suggesting. The sigma has a filter size of 82mm and the tamron has a filter size of 77mm. You buy an 82mm circular filter then one of these and you can use it on both lenses. That would be the cheapest solution. :)

Agreed. Plenty of cheap step-down rings available on Ebay. You can even hand-hold at a pinch.
