Hi all,

Going to Bruge for a couple of days next weekend and thought about getting a new lens for the trip. Only have the 18-55 kit lens for my D5000.

Any recomendations,

Well your present lens would cover most stuff i would guess, so you would have to decide are you going to be doing more interiors, need extreme wide angles (Sigma 10-20) or maybe a modest telephoto (Nikon 55-200 Vr or non-VR). I would have thought the latter would be a little more use generally but depends on your photography.
 
I'd be going for a wide, 10-22mm etc...... great for church interiors and the like.

I was thinking mostly outside. Church square, cannal, and steet scenes so I think the Nikon 55-200 Vr will be best.

I went a couple of years ago, got some lovely shots with my 24-105L which is a great walkabout lens, see here.



Oh :bang: just realised you are on Nikon.
 
TS-E 17mm or 24mm for the Belfry of the Cloth Hall :)

Edit: D5000...? that'll be a PC-E Nikkor 24mm, instead then
 
I'm just back from Brussels and took my 15 - 55 mm kit lens as well as a 70 - 300 mm but was a pain to keep changing lens if I wanted to zoom in to something to get good detail. My next investment is going to be an 18 - 200 mm as I think that would cover a good range for general walking about snapping, so that would be my recommendation. :)
 
My advice would be selling the 18-55 and get the 18-105VR :thumbs:
Or if your budget allows, 18-200VR :thumbs:
 
Bruges at night is something else, so take a tripod. Any wide angle should do the trick.. Don't forget to do the brewery tour too.. Well worth it for rooftop views of Bruges.

This is the brewery that we went to, only one operating as a brewery from memory as all the others are museum places....
