Lens/filter cleaning advice

I just took my new (to me) 40d on holiday and would like to clean all the filters and lens optics now I am back. All my lenses have filters so lens should be fairly straightforward but the filters could do with something slightly more. I have absolutely no kit or prior experience here so basic advice would be much appreciated!

For UV/Protective filters I'd use a Brillo pad. Then I wouldn't be tempted to use them again.

If you dont have a brillo then just use a microfibre cloth - which should do the trick - but it wont do it if you've used a brillo pad before hand thou

I use a microfibre tissu on the go but back home I like the lens pens.
I think lens pen is great and safe to use.
