Lens fault

Err 01
Communication between
the camera and the lens is
faulty.
Clean the lens contacts.

The above error message is appearing on my screen , I have cleaned the contacts, still the same message, change of lens fine so the fault is the lens a Tamron 18-200 aspherical LD XR Di11, its actually working fine taking photos just showing the error notice instead of the photo just taken, is this a simple fix ?

A bit more playing about with the Tamron lens, the original post the lens is on a Canon 50D, tryed it on another camera a Canon 400D different error message, shooting is not possible switch the camera of and then on again or reinstall the batteries, and this time the lens will not work at all on the 400D.
