Are there usually any compatibility issues with new 3rd party lenses and new DSLR cameras? I've been reading lots about the Sony SLT cameras in particular and I'm pretty confused now. Some reviews have mentioned that there are issues with auto-focus with 3rd party lenses. Is this sort of thing normal?
What I have actually been trying to find out is whether the AF on a Sony SLT-a35 would work with any new Sigma or Tamron lens that had the correct mount? In particular I am confused about continuous auto-focus when videoing and if this works and if it use the cameras phase-shift AF.
I'm starting to get the feeling there are some basics about lens compatibility that I haven't got to grips with. Anyone able to shed any light on it for me?
I'm aware of a particular issue with some Sigma lenses that are incompatible but may be able to have their chip modified, this seems to be down to poor reverse engineering and not a general issue.
