Can anyone recommend a good cleaning kit for the lens or are they all the same?Any particular things I should avoid/purchase?I used to have a cheap one off eBay which was the pen blower and lint free cloth but wondered if any other things help to make it that bit better?thanks

I personally use the Giottos GTCL2810 Q.Ball Angle-Adjustable Air Blower which is great for removing dust from all parts of your camera equipment and the Lenspen Elitepro Cleaning Kit for DSLR Camera which is is perfect for your lenses, filters, viewfinder etc. They are easy enough to pack in you bag when your out in the field and I find you get great results with them and even for stubborn marks on the elements you can breathe lightly on the glass and using the pens with the circular motion brings them up crystal clear.

I have tried other cheaper products but none have come close to these.

I use a blower and a microfibre cloth when I clean my lenses, which is VERY, VERY, rarely. Perhaps I do not take shots in situation where the lens get dirty but cleaning a lens doesn't happen very often.

I just have literally a couple of little bits on one of my lenses but can't get them off by blowing them so figured it's time to get a kit and wondered what people recommend. Thanks for the replies

Personally, if I had little bits on the lens I wouldn't get off I probably wouldn't use a cloth as there's a chance you'll grind it in - I would probably try and remove it with my fingernail - which is actually the perfect balance between soft and hard - and then give it a polish with my t-shirt (but lens cloths are good too).

On that, get proper lens cloths, don't have to be expensive but something designed for use on glass as those towel-looped microfibre cloths leave tiny (micro!) fibres all over surfaces. They're designed for picking up dust, not polishing glass.
