I got fed up looking for which lens cap fitted which lens so decided the easiet way way to dynamo a sticky label onto the front instead of searching for the mm size on the lens cap back.

All my Nikons bar the 50mm f1.4 are 77mm while my Pentax lens caps are lens specific (different styles etc.).. so no need to me to label my lenses... but it is a good idea if you are in a hurry and don't want to faff around..

Some of my caps are too textured for Dymo labels to stick properly so I've marked them with silver Sharpie. TBH, I've rarely had 2 caps off at the same time, so the cap just goes back on the uncapped lens. The ID labelling is more for identifying lenses that are cap up in the bag.

Yes, that would be the only use I would have too, but then only the storage bag, not one I was carrying.
Never had a problem with lens caps.

Those in the picture are 67mm and 62mm which is why I labelled them . easy to put the wrong one on the wrong lens for it to fall off

Great minds, etc...

I've used the same system for a while, now. The desktop Dymo that I printed these labels on became eccentric recently, so I treated myself to this super new "ray gun" style model...

My lenscaps are taken off and left in the box for any future sale of the lens - finding them is never a problem then; nor have I ever dropped one in the field; or missed a shot raising the camera to my eye only to find the cap is still on :D
