Lens advice

Could someone suggest the minimum focal length required for use at non league football matches please, camera will be a Canon 1200d, not the best choice I know but I'm on a very tight budget

Established wisdom suggests minimum would be a 70-200 but you would be stuck with shots in your corner of pitch, which is why a lot of photographers use two bodies - a 70-200 on one body and a 400 on the other. You may probably require an f/2.8 lens to achieve a fast enough shutter speed to freeze motion in poor light at venues with poor lighting.
