Is the thread on lens comparisons still available or can somebody point me in the right direction of a macro lens that will take a macro shot of a flies eye without getting too close. (canon fit)

How close don't you want to be?

Bob

So as I dont get close enough to scare the little darlings before I press the shutter.:)

How close do you normally have to get?

Oddly enough I've been playing with my 100mm macro this evening. I've been saying for ages I should photograph my wedding and engagement rings "just in case" - and tonight I finally got around to it. I also took some shots of the new motherboard that's just been fitted into our pc - why? Well, just because it was there, really!

I got my 100mm from Kerso - well worth trying him for a price, he was by far the cheapest when I got mine last year.

A fly's eye?

Then you need maximum magnification! Ie bigger than 1:1. MP-E 65mm f/2.8 1-5x Macro Photo, about £700 but exactly what you need. 180mm Macro is great but still 1:1 unless you stick a 1.4x converter on it.
