Hi All

We photograph a lot of houses in Portugal that are for rental.
Both inside and out, so this sounds like a good excuse to buy myself a new lens:)
Any advice on a mid (price) range lens I can use for inside and outside the houses but also would be a good addition to my bag to repace the 18-55mm that came with my 400d.

Tamron 17-50 F2.8 Di LD, (the non VC version) cracking lens for the money and as sharp as a tack.

I think the Sigma 10-20 is a good lens to photograph the inside of property. Normal lenses tend to make decent sized rooms look small and an ultra wide angle makes them look bigger.

A lot of these, I think, were taken with the Sigma 10-20 before I upgraded to the Nikon 14-24.

Thanks for the advice, they both look fine lenes, i'll check out the prices and go from there. Chances are i'll have to search for a good condition second hand one, but you never know!

would this be any good for the above?

Canon EF 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 II USM

On a 400D, that's going to be far too narrow for what you want IMHO. The reason people are suggesting the 10-20 (or that sort of focal range) is that it will get a lot of the room in at one go.

Not sure what lens you already have, but set it at 28mm and try some photos. I think you'll find it quite restrictive.

Get a Canon 10-22mm , you will not be dissapointed.

It is very sharp, see below...

Thanks for the replies.
I'll wait for Santa to hopefully bring me the 10-22!

:plusone: for the Sigma 10-20mm - See the flickr account below for some idea on what you can do with an UWA lens.
