Mornin' all,
....seeing as weather is hideous I've resorted to looking at new cameras rather than doing anything productive
Currently have:
Canon 50D w/grip
Small speedlite (110?)
Canon 18-200mm IS
50mm 1.8
Canon G12
Canon S95 << the new arrival
..since I got the S95 the G12 is pretty much redundant so I'm looking at switching it out.
Originally I was going to drop the 50D and G12 etc.. and get myself tooled up with an NEX-7, 18-55mm, 18-200mm and the fast(ish) Sigma 30mm at quite massive expense but after a rethink I'm pretty sure I'll keep the 50D (it and the 18-200 are only worth about as much as the Sony 18-200 lens on it's own anyway) for telephoto and 'special' outings and replace the G12 with something better quality for general use and people/portrait shots.
I had an NEX-5 and wasn't all that happy with the menus, cannot justify the NEX-7 as my middle camera so I'm 99% sure I'll go GX1 as it has lots of nice controls like the G12 that I love so much. I'll miss the articulated screen though :-/
So, onto the GX1. I'll most likely go for the PZ kit, as it's nice and compact and then after that I'm torn between the 14mm and 20mm lenses.
14mm is fast(ish) and cheap
20mm is fast and not so cheap
I guess my question would be 'is the 20mm worth the extra £££?' and if so why? If the 14mm end of the kit lens is not far short of filling the 14mm's role then I don't see the point in having both and perhaps the 20mm is worth it - or am I missing a trick here?
Cheers!
M
