Hi all.

I’m new on here so please be gentle. I have recently purchased a Nikon D700 with 24-120mm VR kit lens along with a Nikon 50mm prime. I am mainly interested in shooting landscapes and am very interested in the Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8 AF wide-angle lens. Has anyone else bought one of these? They seem to be getting great reviews.

I would appreciate your comments before I take the plunge (it ain’t cheap!)

Thanks in advance.

This lens is quite possibly the best wide angle lens ever made IMO.

I had the pleasure of using one over a 10 day period and shot over 2000 images with it. The quality of these images was simply awesome, with very little distortion throughout the zoom range and at most apertures.

If I had the available funds it would be my next pro lens. I currently have the Nikon 28-70 f2.8 and 70-200 2.8.

If you can afford it, buy it

HTH,

Alan

I am not a Nikon owner, so had a look at lensesforhire.co.uk to see what the RRP is. Ouch, that is an expensive lens. If you are interested in it, and can arrange for a week where it would be used a lot, perhaps a weeks rent would be worthwhile?
When I started DSLR I thought that renting lenses would be prohibitively expensive, but, when I looked into it, you can hire what is an expensive lens, for a very reasonable amount.
