While reading an article which compared the quality of Canon and Nikon lenes, the reviwer mentioned that both brands of glass would be used on a Canon 5D body...He went one to explain that he had a metal adaptor plate that allowed this...

Are these adaptors easy to get hold of? Do they retain the various automated funcions of the lens, or is it simply a mechanical mount?

Regards,

Pete

Manual focus only but will meter. Put the camera in AV and change aperture on the lens. Easy. Or, just use full manual if you know how to. The 5D viewfinder will work well. Get adaptor off eBay. Research the specific lens to make sure it is ok with the 5D. Some can hit the mirror as it flips. Best bet are the old M42 mount lenses from Zeiss and Pentax. Cheap for the quality.

You'll not be able to use Nikkor 'G' series lenses. They have no aperture ring so can only be controlled/set from the camera....
